Plants, Trees, and Planting Trees: SRUC's Glasgow Queen's Park is located in a glasshouse, which you probably already knew if you're a student there. But if you're not, go have a look. The plants are not only beautiful, it's also nice and warm and an ideal place to visit in the winter.
The Park of Parks: Glasgow Queen's Park is absolutely massive! And with all those steps it has something cinematic, like Glasgow itself. Anyhow, you can do all sorts of things in the park: picnic's; a game of football; rugby, or frisbee; climb trees; count trees; hug trees; name trees; sing; whisper; lie down and look at the shapes of clouds. Even better, you could start your own society and organise activities in the park.
In and around
Music, Art, Cinema, Standup Gigs: Okay, I could just list every single thing you could do in Glasgow right now. But Glasgow is the biggest cultural hub in Scotland so the list would be endless and it'd give me sore hands (then there's a tat of lazyness as well). So, I willnae dae that. Instead, go to The Skinny where you find exactly that!
Sport in Glasgow: There's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that if you want to go to any of Glasgow Club's 15 gyms and 12 swimming pools you can do that at a relatively good price (compared to some other councils). The down side here is that there's not a specific student discount. Still, the prices are combinable with other discounts for which you might be eliglbe. 18-21 year olds, for instance, can sport at a reduced price. For more on their membership prices click here.
