On Campus

The Pitch: There is a grass pitch outside campus that can be used for all sorts of activities. If this gave you an idea for starting a society, you're in luck: starting a society is super easy! Find out how to start your own society.

Going for a Walk: Oatridge Campus is the perfect spot if you like going for a walk in nature. Around campus, you have the National Demonstration Footpath, which is uniquely designed to demonstrate the best infrastructure of footpaths. The area around campus also hosts beautiful wild spaces, woodland areas, and an orchard.

Sports Hall: Oatridge has it's very own sports hall, and... as you read above it's super easy to start a society, so why not enjoy some activities there? Alternatively, you can also go to the Students' Association and contact our Active Campus Coordinator with ideas for activities, and we'll get something organised.

In and around Uphall/Broxburn

Student Discounts at the Rugby Club: On a 13 minutes drive (approx. 6 miles) from campus is Linlithgow Rugby Club. They have a senior team (18+, the average age is 24) and youth teams (16/17 and below). Senior team train on Tue/Thur 7pm and are promoted to the national league. Last time we spoke to the rugby club, annual membership was £140 per year, but students pay £100 (which is about £8.30 per month). What's more, if students turn up for training and go to matches and keep receipts of travelling expenses, they get it reimbursed (including 35p per mile in car). But… prices do change annually, so please ensure you contact the rugby club to ensure you get the right membership.

Night Out in Edinburgh: Uphall and Broxburn are great places in their own right, but it could, you may plan an occasional visit to The Capital. You might've already had a week peak on one of our other pages. But if you want to plan your day (or night) out and visit one of the latest events without having to look around too much, visit online magazine The Skinny to find out what's on right now.
