The role of the Co-President of Welfare and Community is to make sure that student wellbeing, safety, and a sense of belonging are always part of the conversation at SRUC. The person who takes up this role will focus on highlighting the challenges that students face and working with SRUC staff to improve the support systems that help students feel safe, secure, and included. They’ll run campaigns to raise awareness of wellbeing issues, help build stronger student communities through clubs and societies, and advocate for changes that make campus life more welcoming and accessible. This role isn’t about fixing everything alone - it’s about making sure the people with the power to make decisions are paying attention and that student voices are always heard when it comes to their safety and happiness.

The Co-President of Welfare and Community will work alongside the Co-President of Engagement and Advocacy to ensure that student concerns around safety, equality, and inclusion are raised and acted on. They’ll also collaborate with the Co-President of Education and Quality to make sure that wellbeing is considered as part of the learning experience, recognising that academic success is closely tied to feeling supported. This role is for someone who’s passionate about helping students feel seen and heard, and who wants to strengthen the sense of community across SRUC—not by doing it all alone, but by making sure students have the opportunities and spaces they need to connect and thrive.
