Fighting for a future for Elmwood Animal Care

Elmwood
Students standing by the road outside Elmwood campus with banners protesting the closure of the Anim We had this discussion already!
SRUCSA have become aware that SRUC are again proposing closure of the Animal Care unit at Elmwood, which would prevent offering Animal Care course at this campus, which means any student who wished to study this course would have to travel huge distances, to Aberdeen or Dumfries, in order to do so.

After a fight from us last year, we successfully campaigned to keep the Animal Care courses running. It makes us upset and angry that this option is now being proposed again. We intend to fight this decision and call on your support, whether you are at Elmwood or on another campus.

We believe students shouldn't have to uproot their lives to take the opportunity to study, many people don't have this option, and it will lock many people out of this popular and rewarding course and career.

We have yet to be invited to consultation on this issue, but we will be making it clear to SRUC management that we, student and class reps should be involved throughout. Furthermore, we are particularly annoyed about the lack of consideration given the timing of this news. As students will know, the UCAS deadline to study elsewhere has expired.
